Which stories are in KidSpin?
The collection mixes familiar tales with stories about KidSpin’s characters. These are actual titles from the app; the questions below are suggestions for your family, not a test.
| Story | Try asking |
|---|---|
| The Thirsty Crow پیاسا کوا | “What could the crow try next?” Let your child point to a clue in the picture. |
| The Rabbit and the Turtle خرگوش اور کچھوا | “What would you say to the turtle?” Talk about keeping going without turning it into a race. |
| Bhalu’s Bouncy Ball بھالو کی اچھلتی گیند | “Where would you look for the ball?” Ask your child to name something else beginning with B. |
| The Bismillah Picnic بسم اللہ والی پکنک | “What would you bring to our picnic?” Connect the story to a meal you share. |

A small evening reading routine
- Let your child choose. Offer two stories, then read a page in the language most comfortable for them.
- Pause once. Ask what might happen next. A gesture, one word or an invented answer all give you something to talk about.
- Close with a retelling. Put the phone away and ask, “What happened first?” You can continue the conversation without a screen.
There is no need to finish a book or earn anything. If your child wants a paper book or is ready to stop, follow their lead. This is a shared-reading idea, not a sleep treatment or a promise that an app will make a child sleepy.
Is there a hands-free bedtime mode?
Yes, from KidSpin 1.0.5: Listen mode reads a whole story aloud and turns the pages by itself, so your child can lie back and listen. The duas have a Listen button too, playing one after another with a short pause between them. The screen stays on only while a story or dua plays and can sleep again once you pause or stop. Version 1.0.5 is rolling out on Google Play and may take a few days to reach your phone.
- Calm by design: listening never earns stickers or counts as a lesson, so there is nothing to win at bedtime.
- Same voices: Listen mode uses the phone’s text-to-speech voice, like the rest of the app. Install an offline voice first if you want it to work without internet.
- Talk together: each story also has one short talk-together question, such as “What would you do?”, with a few seconds to answer. A parent can switch these questions off in Settings.
- Time limit: if you set a daily time limit, listening counts towards it like any other learning screen.
Make room for both languages
For a child who prefers Urdu, start with the Urdu story and try just one English word. For an English-first child, name one familiar object in Urdu. Avoid translating every sentence if it interrupts the story.
For example, a parent can ask “کوا کیا کر رہا ہے؟” (“What is the crow doing?”), wait for an answer, then ask “What happens next?” These are optional conversation prompts, not app dialogue.
At ages 3–4, try pointing and naming. At ages 5–7, invite a prediction or an alternative ending. Adjust to your child’s interest rather than using age as a reading assessment.
What does the audio sound like?
KidSpin uses the phone’s text-to-speech voices. These are picture stories with device speech, not a catalogue of professionally narrated audiobooks. Voice availability and pronunciation vary by phone and language. For offline listening, install an offline voice first; reading the bundled story text does not require a connection.
For a daytime activity after a story, try the short spoken learning rhymes, or trace a letter from a character’s name.

Questions parents ask
Are these English and Urdu bedtime stories?
KidSpin includes 16 picture and comic stories with English and Urdu text. Families can read them together at bedtime or at another quiet moment. In the current version bedtime is a suggested routine; KidSpin 1.0.5 adds a Listen mode that reads a whole story aloud hands-free.
Are the stories free?
The 16 stories are included in the free app, with no ads or login. An optional paid Bonus Pack unlocks additional learning topics.
Are these recorded audiobooks?
No. Story speech uses the phone’s text-to-speech voices. Parents can also read the story text themselves; voice quality and availability vary by device.
Can we use the app without internet?
Stories and learning content are bundled in the app. Speech uses your phone’s text-to-speech engine; offline speech needs an installed offline voice for the selected language. Purchases, restores and optional license checks need internet.
