The 5-minute routine: one Today's Path step with a class
Today's Path gives three short steps a day: a foundational step (an English letter, a number, an Urdu letter or simple maths, in that order), a character step and a fun topic. With a class, use just the first step. It is the one that builds day by day.
- Open (30 seconds). Open KidSpin and tap the first step on Today's Path. It opens straight on today's card, for example the letter A.
- Show and listen (1 minute). Hold up the screen, or mirror it to a classroom screen if you already have one. Tap the card to hear the word. Tap the اردو button to hear it in Urdu.
- Say it together (1 minute). The class repeats the word in both languages. Ask one open question: "What else starts with this sound?" or "Where do you see this in our room?"
- Trace (2 minutes). For a letter or number, tap Trace under the card. One child traces on the screen with the numbered start dots while everyone else traces the same shape in the air, on a slate or in a notebook.
- Close (30 seconds). A check mark shows the step is done. Tomorrow, Today's Path picks up from here.
Keep it to one step. Short, shared and talked-about beats a long session: researchers describe good learning apps as active, engaged, meaningful and socially interactive (Hirsh-Pasek et al., 2015), and the talking happens between you and the class, not on the screen.
Before the first lesson
- Install on Wi-Fi. Install KidSpin and, if Urdu is not spoken aloud, download the Urdu voice in the phone's speech settings. The parent guides show how.
- Test in airplane mode. Switch on airplane mode and tap a card. If the voice speaks, the lesson will work without signal.
- Set the age. Settings opens after a simple grown-up sum. Pick the age of most of your class (3 to 7). You can also choose which topics appear.
- Check the sound level. The phone speaker is small. In a room of 20 children, a small speaker or sitting in a circle helps.
Using KidSpin in a madrasa or Islamic class
The second step of Today's Path is the character step. It rotates by weekday: Islam basics on Monday and Thursday, namaz on Tuesday and Friday, and a short akhlaq (good manners) tip on the other days. The namaz steps, six kalmas and daily duas are all in the free app.
The phone reads text with a synthetic voice. It is not a qari's recitation. For Arabic, recite yourself and use the app for the picture, the meaning and the order of steps. For the Urdu alphabet, see the Urdu qaida page; KidSpin does not teach Noorani Qaida or Quran recitation.
For a mixed class, Settings can hide the Islamic modules, so the same app works as a general preschool app.

What KidSpin does not do yet
- No teacher dashboard or class reports. There is no teacher account and nothing to track pupils.
- No separate profiles per child. Progress belongs to the device. On a shared teacher phone, Today's Path follows the whole class, not each child.
- Android only. There is no iPhone or iPad version yet.
- Check marks are not test results. They show a step was finished, not that every child has learned it. Ask children to show you away from the screen.

Questions teachers ask
Does KidSpin have a teacher dashboard or class reports?
No. KidSpin has no teacher account, dashboard or class report. Progress and check marks are saved on the phone or tablet, per child profile (up to four), with no teacher view.
Can each child in my class have a profile?
Not for a whole class. KidSpin 1.0.5 (available on Google Play since 14 October 2026) adds up to four child profiles per phone, meant for siblings at home. A class needs more than that, so if you use one teacher phone with the whole class, Today's Path follows that phone's progress.
Does it need internet in the classroom?
No. Lessons, tracing, games and stories are inside the app. Install it and the Urdu phone voice on Wi-Fi first; after that it works without a connection.
Is it allowed to use KidSpin with a class?
KidSpin's terms of use are written for families. Before using it with a class, email asadtechlead@gmail.com with your school or madrasa name and we will confirm classroom use in writing.
