How KidSpin's tracing works
- A green start dot marks where to begin, numbered 1, 2, 3 for letters with more than one stroke.
- Arrows along the path show the direction.
- The path fills in as the finger moves the right way. Going backwards or jumping ahead doesn't count.
- Lifting the finger is fine. Put it back where you stopped and carry on, like a real pencil.
- Dots are tapped, not drawn: after the main stroke of ب or ت the child taps each nuqta.
The path is wider for 3-year-olds and narrower at 6-7, so younger children succeed without the game becoming a scribble pad for older ones.

Tracing works best as part of a lesson

Questions parents ask
At what age should kids start tracing letters?
Most children can follow a thick path with a finger from about age 3, and hold a pencil to trace from about 4. KidSpin makes the tracing path wider for younger children and narrower as they grow.
Does KidSpin teach Urdu letter tracing?

Why does stroke order matter?
Forming a letter the same way every time makes handwriting faster and neater later. A 2012 brain-imaging study by Karin James and Laura Engelhardt found that preschoolers who printed letters freehand showed stronger activity in reading areas than those who typed or traced them, so treat finger tracing as the first step and follow it with pencil and paper.
